Our story
Born in Manchester.
Built to last.
Really Comfy Beds Manchester was founded on a simple belief: that the bed you sleep in should be the finest thing in your home. Every piece we make is a testament to that conviction.
Manchester heritage
Rooted in a tradition of making
Manchester has been the heartland of British craftsmanship for centuries. From the wool mills of the Dales to the steel foundries of Sheffield, this county has always understood that quality is not an accident — it is the result of skill, patience, and pride in the work.
Our workshop sits in the heart of this tradition. We have been making beds here for over two decades, passing knowledge from craftsperson to apprentice, refining our methods with every piece we build.

How we make
Every bed, made by hand
We do not use production lines. Each bed is built from scratch by a single craftsperson who takes personal responsibility for every joint, every stitch, and every finish. It takes longer. It costs more. And it shows.
01
Design & consultation
Every commission begins with a conversation. We listen to how you live, how you sleep, and what you love. Then we design a bed that is entirely yours.
02
Frame construction
Our frames are built from sustainably sourced hardwood — solid beech and oak — jointed and glued using traditional mortise-and-tenon techniques that will outlast any modern alternative.
03
Upholstery & finishing
Our upholsterers hand-cut and hand-stitch every panel. Fabrics are sourced from the finest British and European mills. Buttons are hand-tied. Piping is hand-sewn. Nothing is rushed.
04
Quality inspection
Before any bed leaves our workshop, it is inspected by our head craftsperson. We check every seam, every joint, every mechanism. If it is not perfect, it does not leave.
05
White-glove delivery
Our own delivery team brings your bed to your home, assembles it in your bedroom, and removes all packaging. We do not leave until you are completely satisfied.
Materials
Only the finest will do
We are uncompromising about what goes into our beds. Every material is chosen for its quality, its provenance, and its longevity. We work with suppliers we have known for years — people who share our values.
Hardwood frames
Solid beech and oak from FSC-certified forests. Kiln-dried to prevent warping. Built to last generations.
British wool fabrics
Woven in the Manchester Dales and the Scottish Borders. Naturally fire-resistant, breathable, and extraordinarily durable.
Natural fillings
Lambswool, horsehair, and cotton — the same materials used by the finest furniture makers for two centuries. No synthetics, no shortcuts.
Pocket spring systems
Hand-nested pocket springs, individually wrapped and hand-tied. Each spring works independently for perfect support and zero partner disturbance.
What we believe
Craft over convenience
In a world of flat-pack furniture and overnight delivery, we are deliberately different. We believe that the things you surround yourself with should be made with intention — and that a bed, above all else, deserves to be extraordinary.
Honesty
We tell you exactly what goes into your bed, where it comes from, and how long it will last. No marketing language. No hidden compromises.
Longevity
We make beds that last decades, not years. Every design decision is made with the long view in mind — because the most sustainable product is one you never need to replace.
Craft
We employ skilled craftspeople and pay them fairly. We invest in apprenticeships. We believe that making things well is a form of respect — for the materials, for the customer, and for the craft itself.
